🇺🇸 Sturtevant Falls Trail|Early Autumn Waterfall Hike 🍂💧

Area: Near Arcadia, LA Parking: Chantry Flat Parking Lot (Adventure Pass required) or street parking available Length: 3.3 miles round trip Difficulty: Easy to moderate 🍁 The trail starts with about 0.6 miles of gentle downhill. After a few turns, it gradually climbs up. Sunlight and shade dance between the trees, and a small stream accompanies you along the way—the soothing sound of flowing water is truly healing. 🌿✨ 🍁 Along the path, you’ll spot a few small cabins tucked quietly among the woods. The fences are made of rough, hand-split logs, and yellow curtains hang softly in the windows. Sunlight streams from one window to another, as if hinting at traces of life inside—maybe still inhabited, or perhaps just forgotten by time. 🏡🌲 🍁 As you walk further, the sound of the waterfall grows louder. By the time you reach Sturtevant Falls, even in October, the water flow remains generous—the deepest part can reach waist-high! 💦 Some people change clothes on the rocks, some enjoy a picnic lunch, while others simply sit quietly, letting the sun dry their damp skin. In that moment, time seems to slow down—even the wind feels reluctant to leave. 🕰️☀️ 🍁 The return trip begins with a downhill section, but the last stretch asks you to “pay back” the elevation—a long uphill climb that really tests your stamina! The trail is straightforward with no confusing forks, so it’s hard to get lost. 🧭 ⏱️ We started at 11:00 AM, reached the falls by 12:20 🥪 Had lunch and headed back at 1:10 PM, returned to the parking lot by 2:30 🎐 The weather was cool and pleasant overall—just a few sunny sections were warm 👕 Wear breathable clothing 🧺 Bring a towel + a change of clothes if you plan to dip in the water! What’s your favorite waterfall hike you’ve ever done? 🥾💧 Or do you have a go-to trail for a peaceful autumn walk?
