🇺🇸 Visiting a Pretty DC Restaurant – A Not-So-Ordinary Experience
📍 Residents Cafe & Bar, 1306 18th St NW, Washington, DC Went there for lunch last weekend. The photos on Google Maps looked gorgeous, but the place turned out to be much smaller than I expected. The patio was covered with a green tarp instead of a transparent roof, so it felt a bit stuffy sitting outside on a summer noon. 🌞🪑 First, I noticed a grain of rice stuck in the fork, so I asked the server for a replacement. The new fork had a bent tip, but I thought, "Whatever, as long as it's clean." 🍴😅 Then, while eating, I found a label still attached to a tomato in one of the dishes. I was surprised how careless the prep was—luckily it was a cold dish, so I just moved the labeled tomato aside. Before paying, I showed it to the server. I originally thought maybe we’d get a small discount since we’d almost finished the dish, but the server took it very seriously. He brought the tomato to the kitchen, and the chef came out personally to apologize. 👨🍳🙏 The chef quietly remade the entire dish for us to take home, and even added two extra desserts in the to-go bag! Then both the chef and server kept asking if we wanted to try any other dishes—on the house. We were too embarrassed to accept anything else though, haha! 🍰🥡 When the bill came, they had comped that entire dish and the large sparkling water we ordered. We ended up paying only $26 including tax and service fee—for a full meal plus leftovers and desserts! 🧾✨ Looking back, I hesitated at first to say anything—but I’m so glad I spoke up. If I hadn’t, it would’ve bothered me quietly. Instead, I got to see how sincerely this restaurant values its customers. Their apology and compensation were truly top-notch! 💯❤️ Have you ever had an experience like this at a restaurant?
