🇺🇸 Washington DC 4-Day Independence Day Trip Guide 🎆🇺🇸
Just wrapped up my 2024 Fourth of July trip in DC – here’s a full recap and tips for anyone planning to go this year! 📅 🏨 Stayed at Hilton near the White House 🚇 DC Metro is super convenient – and FREE on Independence Day! We used metro + walking everywhere except Georgetown (took Uber). 💳 Pro tip: Add SmartTrip to Apple Pay for easy access! 📌 Must-know: U.S. Capitol & Library of Congress: Require advance reservation 🗓️ International Spy Museum: Buy tickets online 🕵️ White House: Exterior viewing only (book 6+ months ahead for interior tour) Other museums: Mostly walk-in friendly 🏛️ 📅 Day 1 – Arrival + Georgetown ✈️ Afternoon flight → Check-in → Headed to Georgetown 🍽️ Dinner at Martin’s Tavern (where JFK proposed! 💍) 🛍️ Shopping around M Street & Wisconsin Ave 📅 Day 2 – Independence Day! 🇺🇸 White House photo op 🍩 Breakfast @ Founding Farmers – tried Trump’s fave donut (not our vibe 😂) 🚫 Washington Monument closed due to fireworks prep 🦖 Natural History Museum (walk-in) 🎉 Independence Day Parade – floats and music! 🕵️ Spy Museum (booked ticket in advance) 🎆 Evening: Watched fireworks – spectacular but CROWDED! 🚶♀️ Tip: Walk to the previous metro station to avoid jam-packed trains 📅 Day 3 – Capitol Hill + Art + NASA ⏰ 9:20 AM: U.S. Capitol guided tour (free + awesome!) 📚 10:45 AM: Library of Congress (connected internally – so convenient!) 🖼️ Afternoon: National Gallery of Art + NASA Air & Space Museum ✨ Don’t miss: Da Vinci’s painting on the 2nd floor in the Gallery! 🚀 NASA museum is smaller than Houston’s – quick visit is enough 📅 Day 4 – Georgetown Round 2 🥯 Breakfast @ Call Your Mother – tried Biden’s favorite bagel! 🛍️ More exploring + shopping in Georgetown ✈️ Headed back home early afternoon 📌 Final Tips: Wear comfy shoes – you’ll walk A LOT 👟 Book Capitol + Spy Museum ahead Use free metro on July 4th but expect crowds Georgetown = best food & shopping 🛍️🍴 DC on Independence Day is BUSY but unforgettable! Already missing those fireworks and free museums 🎇🏛️ #WashingtonDC #IndependenceDay #TravelGuide #DCtravel #USA #FourthOfJuly #WhiteHouse #Georgetown #TravelTips
