🇺🇸 What I Ate in Madison This Week

Went back to Izakaya, Sol’s, SGD, Pin Chuan, and Tai’s Asian Bistro this week. Still working on my drafts for Izakaya and Pin Chuan — will roast ’em all together later 😂 Today focusing on Sol’s, SGD, and Tai’s! 🌟 Tai’s Asian Bistro Tai’s is seriously SO GOOD. In terms of pure flavor (not ambiance), it’s currently my #1 in Madison 😍 This time I went because I was craving steamed fish — and it did not disappoint! The sea bass was much more tender than last time 👏 Last time I ordered the pepper beef and stir-fried cabbage; this time I got the black bean clams and stir-fried pea shoots. The clams were INCREDIBLE — I had no idea Madison had such plump, fresh shellfish 😭🙌 The pea shoots were solid too — wok hei was strong here! 🔥 🌟 Sol’s I hadn’t been since late 2023… and now I remember why 😬 Still just average and overpriced. And their tofu soup this time was TERRIBLE!!! 🤮 The only redeeming part was the banchan (side dishes) — thanks to whoever in the comments recommended those 😂 But overall… not worth it. Probably won’t go back. 🌟 SGD Dubu This place is basically my cafeteria now — but I only order the soondubu (tofu soup) 🍲 It’s the only thing that’s consistently good. The seafood pancake is okay too. I’ve tried almost all the noodle options: Ramen = instant noodles 🍜 Udon = always bland The “hand-pulled” Korean noodle was undercooked and chalky 😵 So yeah… sticking with tofu soup + white rice from now on! Previous reviews of these spots are in my food collection! Let me know if you want more deets ~ #100RestaurantsChallenge #UWMadison #MadisonEats #MadisonFood #FoodDiary
