My wife and I recently attended Beauty and the Beast at Theatre Memphis, and I can confidently say this was one of the most surprising and delightful theatrical experiences I’ve ever had.
This was my first time at Theatre Memphis, and I walked in with my expectations modestly set. I figured we'd enjoy a charming community performance. What we got instead was something verging on Broadway-level quality. From the acting to the vocals, the choreography, costumes, and overall production—this was not amateur hour by any stretch.
The cast clearly poured their hearts and souls into the show, and it paid off in every scene. Belle and the Beast were phenomenal, and the supporting cast was equally impressive. The set design and lighting were incredibly effective, especially considering the space limitations.
If I had to nitpick—and I mean really nitpick—the stage is on the smaller side, the orchestra wasn't a full ensemble, and the sound system, while producing crystal-clear vocals, could benefit from a more immersive design. But none of these tiny details took away from the overall experience. They were mere footnotes in an otherwise magical evening.
Theatre Memphis blew me away, and I will absolutely be coming back. If you’re anywhere near Memphis and love live theater, I highly recommend you make the trip. You won’t be...
Read moreWe had so much fun! We went to see A Christmas Carole and the whole production was great! You can tell the actors really enjoy playing their parts. They made me want to laugh and cry and had me really into the story. It was a packed night but all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We sat second row from the stage I thought it would be too close but it was awesome! The set looked awesome, they really did a spectacular job setting the scene. They had a part tho where a smoke machine was letting off a lot of smoke and some of the people sitting up front started coughing because it was coming straight to our faces. Other than that, it was perfect! We really enjoyed ourselves and glad we made it while we were in Memphis! Good for a date or...
Read moreThe best plays ever! Some examples are sister wives, the crucible, Sherlock Holmes, Cinderella, Beautiful: The Carol King Musical,Arsenic and old lace. Each play is individually unique, and are never quite the same, and the transitions are seamless. Anyone can try to get in to the plays, though it is hard, but the judges are very nice. Some things they have at the little shop are chocolate, sprite, and unique drinks for every show, like at “ sister act” there is a drink called “ take me to heaven”. Which is one of the songs in it.If you come to Memphis and go here, this will be...
