3-Day Relaxed Itinerary

For our short 3-day getaway, we picked Houston—a perfect blend of laid-back vibes and iconic spots to explore! Morning of the 13th: Early Flight & Light BitesWe dragged ourselves out of bed at 4:30 AM sharp to catch our 7 AM flight ✈️, touching down in Houston around 9 AM. Since it was our first day and we wanted to take it easy without tiring ourselves out, we planned a lineup of casual, Instagram-worthy stops. Grab a quick bite of burgers and fries 🍔🍟 to tide you over—but don’t overeat! Save your appetite for the star of the show: Texas BBQ 🍖 in the afternoon. 📍 Water Wall I’ll admit I was skeptical when we first spotted it from afar—“Wait, that’s the famous Water Wall? It looks so small!” But stepping closer, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s actually a super creative architectural piece! The sound of cascading water is loud and immersive, and tiny splashes will gently mist your skin—refreshing on a warm Texas day 🚿. It’s a quick stop but totally worth the photo op—stand right in front of the flowing wall for that “wow” shot everyone will ask about. 📍 Hermann Park 🌳This park is pure bliss for anyone craving a slow, peaceful moment. Rent a paddleboat and glide across the lake 🚣, watch waterfowl glide by, or keep an eye out for the friendliest little squirrels 🐿️ that’ll scamper right up to you (just don’t feed them!). Tucked beside the main park area is a small but exquisitely designed Japanese Garden—think serene koi ponds, stone lanterns, and perfectly trimmed bonsai trees. It’s like a tiny slice of Zen in the middle of the city, and you can wander around it in 30 minutes max. 📍 Rice University 🏛️Rice is a stunning, gated university with gorgeous historic buildings that look like they’re straight out of a movie. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we got there, and it was also finals week for the students—so the campus was pretty much deserted. We snapped a few quick photos at the entrance, didn’t want to disturb the hardworking students, and headed out. If you visit on a sunny day and outside of exam season, definitely take a stroll inside—the tree-lined paths and ivy-covered halls are picture-perfect. 📍 Texas BBQ Feast 🍖No trip to Texas is complete without digging into authentic BBQ—and this was the highlight of our first day! By the time we finished exploring the park and university, it was already afternoon, making it the ideal time to feast. We hit up the legendary The Pit Room, a spot locals rave about. The second we got our platter of BBQ, we knew it was worth every minute of waiting. The meat was so tender it practically fell off the bone—juicy, smoky, and packed with flavor that hit all the right notes. Every bite was a taste of Texas perfection, and we left with full bellies and happy smiles 😋. After that mouthwatering meal, we headed straight back to the hotel. Let’s be real—napping was the most important task on the agenda! 😴 We wanted to recharge our batteries for the adventures ahead on days 2 and 3. #US #Texas #Houston
