4 Days in Hobart, Tasmania

Tasmania is perfect for a road trip, but this time we decided to focus just on Hobart โ€” saving the full island loop for a summer self-drive! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ We flew from Hong Kong at 10 PM, had a 9-hour layover in Sydney ๐Ÿ˜ด, and finally landed in Hobart around 9 PM. Due to some document issues, I couldnโ€™t pick up the rental car that night โ€” had to take the airport shuttle to the city and then a taxi to our accommodation. Day 1๏ธโƒฃ Spent the morning back at the airport sorting out the car rental โ€” what a time drain! ๐Ÿ•™ By the time we hit the road, it was almost noon. Winter here means the sun sets by 4:30 PM ๐ŸŒ… ๐Ÿก Richmond Town A cute little town with unique shops โ€” perfect for a relaxed stroll. ๐Ÿฆ˜ Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary Not a huge variety of animals, but the best kangaroo encounter of our 20-day Australia trip! Hundreds of laid-back roos lounging around ๐Ÿฅน Entry: $54 AUD for 1 adult + 1 child โ€” includes kangaroo food! Staff taught the kids how to feed and pet them gently. ๐ŸŒŠ Waterfront Dinner Hit two popular spots at the dock for fish & chips and ice cream ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŸ Day 2๏ธโƒฃ Bruny Island ๐Ÿšข Car ferry: $53 per vehicle (20-min ride) ๐Ÿฆช Fresh oysters = delicious! ๐Ÿฏ Honey shop = amazing! ๐Ÿ’จ Lighthouse winds = nearly blew us away ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐ŸŒˆ Saw a rainbow where the Indian and Pacific Oceans meet ๐ŸŒŠ No need to stay overnight, but definitely worth a full day! Day 3๏ธโƒฃ Planned to go to Maria Island โ€” but it was closed for annual maintenance ๐Ÿ˜ญ Changed plans to Fossil Cove โ€” a 10-min walk through the woods to a small beach with fish fossils in the cliffs. Kids loved it! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Spent the afternoon wandering and visited a church in the evening. At night, we chased the aurora โ€” drove to Tinderbox around 10 PM and caught the southern lights! ๐ŸŒŒ Not super bright, but totally worth the trip! Day 4๏ธโƒฃ Took it easy on our last day โ€” visited the famous MONA Museum ๐ŸŽจ Stopped by Montrose Community Park on the way โ€” great playground for kids! ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿง’ No strict schedule โ€” weโ€™ll be back anyway! Relaxed and comfortable pace throughout ๐Ÿ˜Œ #Tasmania #Hobart #TravelAustralia #FamilyTrip #AuroraChasing #BrunyIsland #NoRush
