9th stop after resignation → Lyon, France 🍷
🌟 This time, I took on the challenge of a 48-hour trip in Lyon! Escaping the vibrant energy of Paris, I found the soul of French life in Lyon this time ✨ Day 1: A first encounter with Lyon, traveling through time and space 📍 Took the cable car up to Fourvière Hill ✔️ Ancient Roman Theatre Ruins: The stone steps from 2,000 years ago instantly transport you back to the Roman Empire. Every snapshot is a blockbuster full of historical vicissitudes 📸 ✔️ Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière: The white marble church is breathtakingly beautiful. Climb to the top for a panoramic view of Lyon's red rooftops! 🏰 🚠 Cable car down the hill: A must-experience! The vintage little train leads straight to the old town, switching between ancient and modern scenes in a second ⏳ 🍴 Hidden gem restaurant near the church ▪️ Starter: Red wine poached egg – a runny yolk with rich red wine sauce, such a novel experience 🍷 ▪️ Main course: Red wine sausage – meaty aroma mixed with wine fragrance, top-tier among traditional Lyon dishes 🌭 ▪️ Dessert: It tasted like a soufflé soaked in ice cream – fluffy as a cloud, melting in the mouth... (sorry, I didn't know the name of this dessert from the start 😅) Day 2: Foodie mode activated, 🍤 Les Halles de Lyon (Come early! I arrived too late and some shops were already closed 😭) ▪️ Raw red shrimp: So fresh and sweet, you'll lick your fingers clean 🍤 ▪️ Fresh oysters: A splash of seawater and lemon, exploding with salty-sour flavor – slippery and tender, like eating "French snot" (jokingly speaking) 🦪 ▪️ Baked buns: Crispy outside, soft inside. Tried beef and cheese flavors – the beef one suits the Chinese palate better, while the cheese one tastes like pasta 🍞 ▪️ Raspberry tart: From a shop run by a grandma with the warmest smile. Lots of people queued for her desserts. The taste balances sweet and sour perfectly, with a crust so crispy it crumbles 🥧 🎨 Lyon Murals The entire wall is painted with historical figures – I spotted Little Prince and the author of The Little Prince as easter eggs! 🎨 🍽️ Ultimate dinner in the old town: Bouchon Lyonnais ▪️ A family-style bistro, where the owner is as warm as a long-lost French relative 👨👩👧👦 ▪️ Starter: Red wine sausage again (true love! ❤️) ▪️ Main course: Fried tripe (Tablier de Sapeur) – crispy outside, tender inside, totally subverting my perception of offal! 🐄 ▪️ Dessert: Lemon tart – tangy and not greasy, with a caramelized top that's absolutely divine! 🍋 After dinner, you can wander into a nearby handmade fragrance shop. I bought a few scented soaps – the fragrances are super authentic, and my bag smells amazing every time I open it 🛍️ 🚇 Transportation Tips ✅ Buy a 24-hour transport card (7.1€) – it covers metro, bus, and cable car, saving both hassle and money! If you prefer, you can use Visa directly (might be pricier) 💳 ✅ Walking in the old town is more romantic, but the cable car up the hill is a must! 🚡 💡 Key takeaways ▪️ Lyon is France's "gastronomy capital" – just dive into any Bouchon bistro! 🍴 ▪️ You can't go wrong with desserts here – the French really know how to make sugar bring joy! 🍬 ▪️ Wear comfortable shoes! The old town's stone paths are beautiful but hard on the feet... 👟 #Lyon #PostResignationTravel #LyonTravel #BuddhistTravel #EveryTripIsFullOfExpectation #food #LetsGo #HappyMoments
