A Bagel Place I’ll Always Miss 🥯
There was a time when I wasn’t in the best state, often too busy to eat lunch during the day. Every morning, without fail — even on those cold winter days when the sky was still dark — I would go to Bagelsaurus for two bagels and a coffee. I went so often that the staff eventually recognized me. After moving away, I rarely had the chance to go back, but the memories I made there remain deeply cherished. I’ve tried every sandwich combination they offer, along with various bagel pairings. My all-time favorite — the undisputed Top 1 — is the Thursday-only Blueberry Bagel with the Classic Jumbo, plus extra avocado and tomato 🥑🍅. The blueberry bagel is packed with large, juicy blueberries, delivering a fruity sweetness that balances perfectly with the savory fillings. The jumbo scrambled eggs are always evenly cooked, slightly runny in the middle, and paired with rich, salty cheese. The extra avocado is creamy and high-quality, while the tomatoes — one of the shop’s standout ingredients — are roasted, not raw. They’re intensely flavorful, almost like oil-marinated sun-dried tomatoes. Another great pairing for the Thursday Blueberry Bagel is the Cold Smoked sandwich — my Top 2. It’s another delightful sweet-and-savory combo, featuring smoked salmon, cream cheese, and lots of fresh dill. If you’re not into raw fish, you can try the Hot Smoked version, though it comes with onion slices and a generous amount of pickled red cabbage — which may not be for everyone. My Top 3 goes to the classic BLT — bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Beyond the exceptional roasted tomatoes, the bacon here is another star: always perfectly crispy, with the fat rendered just right. The sauce is light and not too sweet, cutting through the richness nicely. I love pairing the BLT with the Wednesday-only Egg Bagel or the regular Sesame Bagel. Also worth trying is the Chicken Salad — served cold, and far from ordinary. It’s made with shredded chicken, raisins, dill, a bit of pickle, lettuce, and onion — a refreshing and flavorful mix. For those feeling adventurous, there’s the T-REX, a sweet-and-savory creation with banana, extra-crispy bacon, homemade almond butter, and honey. It sounded strange at first, but I ended up really enjoying it — especially the crunchy almond bits and, of course, that perfect bacon. That said, it’s quite rich and can be a bit overwhelming to finish alone. Great for sharing! While Bagelsaurus offers a set menu of bagels daily, they also feature a rotating “Bagel of the Day” and occasional seasonal specials — like a sweet potato bagel I tried once (though the flavor was subtle). One tip: their bagels are best enjoyed fresh in the shop. I’ve tried freezing and reheating plain bagels at home, and it’s just not the same. Also, don’t sleep on their coffee — it’s excellent ☕! You can also build your own bagel sandwich — the possibilities are endless — though I personally haven’t experimented much with custom orders. #BagelLove #BagelIdeas #BagelLife #BreadReview #BagelSandwich #BostonEats
