A Balanced Review of Tempura Endo in Beverly Hills 🍤

Tried this popular and well-known tempura spot. Set menus are priced at 200, 250, and 320. The 250 option includes extra sashimi and a vegetable dish, while the 320 features lobster and Wagyu. The summer special shown online wasn’t available, so I went with the basic 200 menu—14 courses in total. First, the tempura skill level is genuinely high. It’s hard to achieve a light, crispy batter without greasiness, and they nailed it—thin, shatteringly crisp coating that lives up to the hype and price point. 👍 Standout dishes: • Tempura corn / breaded shrimp • Tempura pineapple with matcha salt—truly surprising and creative! (Got me thinking this combo would work in a cocktail too 🍍🍵) The other items were solid but standard: shrimp, egg, scallop, asparagus—all well-executed. One cold eggplant dish had an interesting, unusual flavor. The letdown was the fried fish. Despite being imported from Hokkaido, it wasn’t deboned and had a slightly fishy taste—just not to my liking. For the main, you can choose from tempura rice, tempura ramen, or tempura ochazuke. I went with the ochazuke—the rice was perfectly fluffy and delicious. Dessert was matcha pudding with red bean paste. The matcha on top was a bit too strong and bitter, but balanced out when eaten with the pudding. The red bean was rich, though the gold leaf felt unnecessary. The restaurant decor isn’t particularly upscale, but it was quiet and not too crowded. I sat at the counter where the chef prepared items fresh and suggested dipping sauces. Special shout-out to the tableware—very tasteful. The matcha container looked handmade, with unique patterns on each—a nice touch. 🍶 Overall, it’s an above-average experience, but after tip, paying 240 didn’t feel worth it. At this level, there shouldn’t be any misses. I’d return if it were around 150—maybe the premium comes from importing ingredients from Japan to the U.S. 🤷♂️ Address: 9777 Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 #LAFood #LosAngelesJapanese #BeverlyHillsEats #BeverlyHillsFoodie #LADining #Tempura #HighEndDining #HonestReview #FoodieImpression #JapaneseCuisine #MatchaDessert
