A Colorado Hidden Gem for Walking in the Clouds

✅Kohler Mesa Trail, Colorado: This 13-mile trail (actually an out-and-back route, so it's 6.5 miles from one end to the other) offers hikers some spectacular mountain views along the way. ✅The southern trailhead is located on Eldorado Springs Drive in South Boulder, near the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge. ⛳Given that the entire trail sits over a mile above sea level, its maximum elevation gain of about 1,000 feet might be challenging for those not yet acclimated to Boulder's altitude. ⛳Some steep sections will get your heart pumping, but the open-view lookout points are worth every step. 📷Be sure to slow down when you reach the "Wildflower Valley" segment—the swaying blue lupines and poppies will make you want to stop and take photos. 📷 The biggest surprise was spotting a golden eagle circling along the cliffs—we all held our breath as its shadow swept across the rock walls.
