A Day Trip to Bend 😬

We visited Smith Rock and decided to swing by Bend for a quick trip. Honestly, Bend might be better suited for a winter ski trip 🎿—during the summer, it felt a bit underwhelming. ✅ Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint: Highly recommend! The drive up is super narrow 🚗, so take it slow. But the view from the top is absolutely worth it—panoramic and stunning! 🌄❤️ ❌ Paulina Falls: Not particularly special, and it requires an entrance fee 💸. If you’re chasing waterfalls, you’re better off visiting Silver Falls or Multnomah Falls instead. 🌊😕 One highlight was undoubtedly the Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. Driving up to the summit was an adventure in itself—the road is narrow and winding, requiring cautious navigation. But once at the top, the 360-degree views of Bend and the surrounding Cascade Mountains were breathtaking. It’s the perfect spot for photos 📸, picnics 🧺, or simply soaking in the beauty of Central Oregon. I’d argue this is a must-do for any first-time visitor. That said, Bend has a lot more to offer beyond these two spots. The Deschutes River Trail is perfect for a leisurely stroll or bike ride 🚴‍♀️, with picturesque views of the water and opportunities for bird-watching 🦅. The Old Mill District is great for shopping 🛍️ and dining 🍽️, with a variety of local boutiques and restaurants to explore. And let’s not forget the food scene—Bend is known for its craft breweries 🍻, farm-to-table cafes 🥗, and international cuisine 🌮. Regardless of when you visit, Bend’s friendly atmosphere and stunning surroundings make it a worthwhile stop on any Oregon itinerary.
