A Detailed Guide to Capitol Hill and the Library of Congress

If it’s your first time visiting D.C., Capitol Hill and the adjacent Library of Congress are musts to include in your itinerary. 👀 Highlight ➡️ There’s an underground passage that conveniently connects the Library of Congress to Capitol Hill, making it easy to visit both in one day. 🎫 The Library of Congress requires online reservation for time tickets, while Capitol Hill does not. When we visited Capitol Hill, there weren’t many people, so we just walked in, picked up tickets, and lined up to watch a 20-minute educational film. 🏛️ Join a tour to explore the interior of Capitol Hill. It’s more like a historical and cultural museum, with various paintings, sculptures, and artworks depicting significant periods in history. Two halls are open for visitors: 🕌 The Central Hall, where the dome is located. 🗿 The National Statuary Hall Promise me, after visiting Capitol Hill, you must not miss the treasure that is the Library of Congress. 📖 The hall of the Library of Congress is a beautifully photogenic spot. On the second floor, you can see the book collections of Lincoln and Jefferson, but what I highly recommend is the main reading room on the basement level. You need a reader’s card to enter, and inside, there are many historical materials and rare books that can only be read on-site and not borrowed. 📚 This time, I got a reader’s card for my mom while doing research. It’s free🆓 and valid for two years, allowing access to three other libraries in D.C. 👀 Kids under 18 don’t need a card; they can enter the reading room with their parents. With over 147 million books in the Library of Congress alone, it has become my and my mom’s go-to library! For those who study the humanities and love reading, don’t miss this great opportunity to “shear the wool.” #WashingtonDC #CulturalSights #DMVPhotographer #DMVArea #USCapitol #WeekendPlans #SummerActivities #LivePhotos #LibraryOfCongress #OffTheBeatenPath
