A Mining-Themed Restaurant on the Mountainside šļøāļø
Iād always been drawn to the post-industrial vibe of this place whenever I drove past the foot of the hillsāfinally made it there with friends recently: Pomona Valley Mining Company~ šļø This restaurant has been around for almost 50 years. It was built in 1977 by the local Frick family. Since the area was originally a mining district, they leaned into the āGold Rushā aestheticāso much so that the interior is decorated with actual relics from old mines. Walking in feels like stepping back into the era when California was all about digging for gold. š Perched on the mountainside, the terrace overlooks the whole Pomona Valley. Especially romantic at sunsetāthe city lights spread out like golden dust āØ. š„ Letās start with a plus: their Salad Bar is All You Can Eat š„¬š ! Thereās a variety of salads, soups, and moreāclassic āold-school Americanā style, but quite generous. š· The wine list is pretty limited. We ordered a Zinfandel and a Malbec. If youāre serious about wine, you might be a bit disappointed. š„© Tried the signature Prime Ribāhuge portion, but the meat and flavor were just okay. If youāre a Prime Rib fan, Iād recommend Summit House insteadāmore tender and flavorful. šø The real surprise was the bar downstairs! Spacious, great atmosphere, and the beer and cocktail selection is even better than upstairsāperfect for a post-dinner drink. šŖØ In summary: View 8.5/10 ļ½ Vibe 9/10 ļ½ Food 6/10 ļ½ Drinks 5/10 ļ½ Salad Bar 7.5/10 Great for a date or hanging out with friends. Pick a relaxed evening, have a drink on the mountain, watch the sunset, and soak in that rustic-industrial romance š. #ScenicDining #HiddenGemEatery #LosAngeles #LALife #LAFood #LAEastSide #LAEastSideEats #CaliforniaLife #LARestaurants #GoldRushVibes #ThrowbackDining #MiningTheme #SunsetViews #SaladBarHeaven #ClassicCalifornia
