A Road Toward Equality
🌷The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail is an 87-kilometer route that carries the tears and glory of the American Civil Rights Movement. 🌷In 1965, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and hundreds of civil rights activists marched along this road to fight for equal voting rights for African Americans, ☀️ultimately leading to the passage of the Voting Rights Act, which profoundly transformed American democracy. ☀️While driving on the highway, we noticed a brown tourist sign by the roadside and decided to make a spontaneous detour to this deeply meaningful place. 🌈Inside the museum, exhibits include photographs, protest signs, and personal belongings of the marchers. 💗 The black-and-white images, filled with determined gazes and weary yet unyielding figures, seem to vividly recount that monumental history. 💗 Most of the museum staff are local volunteers, who passionately share stories of their family members' participation in the march and even point out their relatives in the photographs. #CivilRightsMovement #HistoricTrail #VotingRightsAct
