A Roundup of 5 Omakase Spots in Los Angeles 🍣✨

Here’s my take on some LA Japanese spots I’ve tried: 🍣 Sushi Yuen Decent but not remarkable – average value for money. Nice ambiance, generous portions. The girl next to me later asked for less rice in each piece of sushi – and I started feeling full halfway through. No particular nigiri really wowed me, though. Beautiful plating, friendly chef who loves chatting. 🍣 Nobu Fails to live up to the hype. Visited the 903 N La Cienega Blvd location. The Wagyu was okay for the first two bites, but by the third, it felt too fatty. Table presentation felt a bit rushed. When the server asked for feedback, I mentioned the Black Cod Miso was too sweet – she just replied, “That’s how it’s supposed to be.” 🙃 Popular probably because of Hollywood celebs + relatively affordable pricing, but overall just… meh. 🍣 Matsuhisa ✅ Recommended Sister restaurant to Nobu – named after Chef Nobu’s last name. Menu is similar to Nobu’s but slightly cheaper. The vibe is way more casual – smaller, tables close together, often full and a bit noisy. But I thought the flavors were slightly better than Nobu’s. Highlights: Ceviche Sushi, tempura, desserts. Easier to book than Nobu – sometimes same-day calls work for weeknight dinners. Nicola Peltz once mentioned their Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna is Brooklyn Beckham’s favorite in LA – I liked it too! 🍣 Rebel Omakase (Laguna Beach) A pleasant surprise! Loved almost every course – Wagyu, sashimi, soup, tamagoyaki, dessert… all excellent. Portions might be light for guys – I felt satisfied, but some might leave hungry. Their ice cream dessert was so good I wanted them to open a standalone shop! Will definitely return. 🍣 Yasu Beverly Hills ❌ Not recommended They claimed the uni was flown in, but mine had a slight off smell – maybe a quality control issue that day. Everything else was just average. #JapaneseFood #FoodReview #Omakase #LifeInTheUS #LosAngeles #LAEats #Sushi #IrvineEats
