My favorite omakase spot, I've been a regular here since they transitioned to an omakase-only menu. Before diving into the food, I have to mention—I'm not sure how the owner turns a profit. With each visit, not just the food but the entire place seems to have improved. What's especially striking is that these upgrades unfolded over five separate visits, a testament to the owner's continual efforts to elevate the experience.
In terms of value, this place is unparalleled. I've sampled omakase menus across Southern California, the Atlanta area, and even parts of New York. It's a rarity to find such high-quality, artisan-made Japanese ceramics. To the untrained eye, the glassware may look standard, but the meticulous quality is palpable. As the saying goes, 'What pleases the eye pleases the palate.'
Now, let's talk food. At this price level, the difference between AAA and AA Bafun uni might not significantly alter your taste experience, so I won't belabor the point. What stands out, however, is the chefs' scrupulous attention to detail in food preparation. Whether it's aging the fish, crafting handmade ginger, or using well-aged soy sauce, their dedication to authentic Japanese flavors shines. Plus, the seasonal menu rotation keeps every visit fresh and engaging.
The sake selection is also noteworthy. On my last visit, I had the pleasure of trying a sake personally imported by the chef. A unique experience, although your enjoyment may vary given the chef's personal curation.
I'll spare you the details on service, dessert, and convenience, as this review is long enough. Just know that their commitment to a top-notch experience is evident. No wonder they've recently entered the Michelin guide—I anticipate more accolades in...
Read moreA very pleasant surprise to find this sushi place in Rowland Height. Everything we had was fresh. The miso soup, wasabi and ginger came as a big surprise as how good these things can be. They really pay attention to the details. One can tell the miso soup broth was not from instant mix, the wasabi was freshly grated. They pickled their own ginger and it is not your average ginger. Our sushi was made to order, each one came beautifully made with fresh ingredients and perfect sushi rice. The sweetness and temperature of the rice was just right to complement the fish. The chef was friendly and efficient, he was kept super busy but not a moment of delay to our on going orders, big kudos to the chef! March 2020
Feb 2021: During the pandemic, we can only enjoy take out sushi. It was a very pleasant surprise to find sushi Yuen offers 10% off for takeout without sacrificing the quality. They used hamachi belly in my yellow tail roll! Everything was fresh made to order. The staff was friendly that he brought my food to me while I waited outside...

I wasn’t sure how many courses as it was my birthday gift. Since it was my birthday, I did get a complimentary cheesecake in the very end with a birthday song.
Food: it was a very nice experience. They say what you’re eating before serving it to you. Uni, crab, wagyu, tuna, fruits, theyll explain and show you where it’s from! It’s very interesting to know where my food is coming from. They were all delicious! 10/10 for all!
Chefs: they were very nice and we interacted by talking a bit about personal life as well as the food that were being served to us.
Price: it’s high but I’d recommend to try once. 2 people = $600+ (including tip)
