A traditional Lyon Bouchon that opened in 1937 🇫🇷

There are Bouchons everywhere in Lyon, but as a tourist, you have no idea which ones are authentic. All the ones recommended online are full of tourists. Today, I randomly wandered around and "opened a blind box" to find one—definitely need to post about it on Xiaohongshu! 🎉 This place is full of locals. The menu is handwritten, with no English and no prices. But even when the restaurant was packed, they took the trouble to explain every dish to us. So thoughtful! Though we didn't quite understand most of it. 🤔 The restaurant is mostly filled with elderly people and families speaking French—we were the only tourist table. Appetizers (p1&2): Beef tendon with mustard mayonnaise, cold beef nose salad, and something similar to luncheon meat. All are cold dishes, with a refreshing, slightly sour taste. They go great with bread, and their bread is actually warm with an ultra - crispy crust. 😋 Main courses (p3&4): Calf's head (she called it "beef head") It looks quite fatty, but it's super tender and soft. Paired with the mustard mayonnaise on the side, it's not greasy at all—has that home - cooked flavor. Blood sausage The blood sausage is delicious. The inside has a texture as soft and fluffy as cake, and the casing, stewed with peaches, has a hint of sweetness. The description might sound weird, but trust me, you have to try it! 🤣 Dessert: Crème caramel 🍮—definitely order this!!! It's absolutely the best crème caramel I've ever had. Not too sweet or greasy at all; finished it in 5 minutes after it was served. 😍 This place doesn't care about fancy plating—it's like home - cooked food, relying entirely on skill. You have to taste it to understand. We were stuffed after eating all this, plus two drinks, and it only cost 72€.
