Alaska | Juneau, Glaciers, and King Crab 🦀🧊

Day 1: Flew from Seattle to Juneau ✈️ Juneau is the capital of Alaska, but it’s super small and old—and completely isolated! 🚫 No roads connect it to the outside world. You can only get here by boat, cruise, or plane. Juneau is usually a mid-cruise stop or a transit point to Glacier Bay National Park. Not really worth a special trip, but… since we’re here, and our Glacier Bay tour starts the next day, we decided to explore a bit! 🏔️ We rented a car for convenience to visit Mendenhall Glacier. The town only has a few roads—no need for an SUV, a small car is totally fine. 📍 Downtown Spots: Governor’s Mansion (the one fancy house in a worn-down town 🏛️) Alaska State Capitol House (features a replica of Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell 🔔) Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church (very small) Douglas Island Mount Roberts Tramway 🚠 Whale Project (whale sculpture 🐋) 📍 Out-of-Town Attraction: Mendenhall Glacier (Photo Point + Nugget Falls Trail) 🌮 Good Eats: Deckhand Dave’s Fish Tacos 🐟🌮 (said to be the best in Juneau—it’s a food truck! Order and eat at the outdoor seating. Tasty!) Tracy’s King Crab Shack 🦀 (Devoured some king crab—so good, but my wallet got significantly lighter 😭) The busy area is near the cruise pier, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. After eating, watching the sunset, it’s time to head back—zero nightlife here. 💤 #NorthAmericaTravel #NationalParks #Juneau #Travel #Alaska #EndOfTheWorldIsSnowyMountainsAndOcean #LifeInNorthAmerica #TravelAroundTheWorld ✨
