Alaska Food Guide β€” Anchorage Edition πŸ½οΈπŸ”οΈ

After a week of eating my way through Alaska, I can confidently say: the food scene here is incredible! Compared to Austin (which is basically a hot, food-desert πŸ₯΅), Anchorage feels like a culinary paradise. You can find delicious restaurants of almost every cuisine here! Even in national parks, you won’t go hungry β€” visitor centers often sell hot meals, and places like Katmai NP (bear central! 🐻) offer tasty buffets. Prices are reasonable, though Seward is noticeably pricier for both food and souvenirs. But good food is everywhere! Here are my 5-star recommendations in downtown Anchorage: 🍻 Glacier Brewhouse A popular spot β€” we waited over an hour (starving! 😩), but it was worth it. King Crab Legs: So delicious! Looks small but packed with meat πŸ¦€. Calamari: Way better than anything in Austin β€” tender and flavorful. House Beer: Fruity and refreshing 🍺. We overordered but no regrets! 🍺 The 49th State Brewing Company A legendary Alaskan brewery with a great restaurant attached. King Crab: More generous portions than Glacier Brewhouse (3 thick legs!), but served warm instead of hot. Still tasty, but maybe not as amazing. Yak Burger: Took it home β€” no gamey taste, just juicy goodness πŸ”! IPA: Not the hazy kind, but still delicious. πŸ• Moose’s Tooth Pizza Top 3 pizza in the US β€” expect a wait! βŒ› We ordered to-go (still 45 mins), but it was perfect for bringing back to the hotel. Call of the Wild Pizza (with reindeer sausage!) + a custom half 🦌 Korean BBQ Wings: Looked and tasted amazing β€” even better back at the room! πŸ₯’ Jimmy’s Asian Food Restaurant Authentic Chinese food β€” delicious and fairly priced! πŸ˜‹ Note: There are multiple β€œJimmy’s” β€” make sure you go to the right one! 🚫 Closed on Wednesdays. 🍚 Wonjo Korean Cuisine Cozy Korean spot with hearty meals. Bibimbap and Seafood Tofu Soup were comforting and flavorful. Lots of banchan (side dishes)! A bit pricey, and 18% tip is automatically added for groups of 5+. Anchorage = food heaven! Don’t miss these spots πŸŽ‰πŸ΄ #AnchorageEats #AlaskaFood #FoodieTravel #KingCrab #PizzaLovers #KoreanFood #ChineseFood #TravelAlaska πŸ”οΈπŸ¦€πŸ»
