Amazed by the Chinese-Style Dumplings at a Burmese Restaurant
Finally visited the highly-rated Rangoon Bistro (4.8 stars!) today! I went to the Mississippi Avenue location and explored some vintage shops nearby~✨ Ordered the famous Tea Leaf Salad and Coconut Rice—both were delicious! 👍 I’ve tried Top Burmese before, but this place does the tea leaf salad even better. The only downside was the excessive fried peanuts and nuts (I forgot to ask for none), so I ended up picking out the cabbage to eat~🥗 🥟The highlight was their giant dumplings! As a northern Chinese, I’ve eaten enough dumplings to circle the Earth twice (just kidding~), but these truly amazed me! The filling was cabbage and pork, with something like aspic that made it translucent and sticky—a texture I loved~❤️ The dipping sauce was perfectly balanced—tangy and spicy, with a hint of Shanxi aged vinegar flavor despite using red vinegar! The only letdown was the rice flour wrapper, which was partly soggy and partly dry. Later, I gave Kate’s Ice Cream a second try, but it’s still too sweet for me…🍦 My all-time favorites remain Salt & Straw, Pinolo Gelato, and Cheese & Crack!💯 While shopping, I stumbled upon a vintage store called Dustbunny. It was small and unassuming, but I found three gorgeous coats there!🧥🛍️ What a fulfilling day~ #PortlandFood #BurmeseCuisine #DumplingDiscovery #VintageShopping #IceCreamLover #FoodDiary #WeekendVibes
