An Unexpected Delight: Modern Mexican Food in Del Mar

My plans went completely off track today! I specifically went to Del Mar craving the famous guacamole from Guaca’s, only to find my first choice, En Fuego Cantina, closed. Just as I was feeling a little disappointed, I spotted Salt + Lime next door. Who knew this “unexpected food adventure” would turn into the biggest surprise! 🤩 The atmosphere was relaxed the moment I stepped in. Their signature Guacamole clearly had a lot of thought put into it. 🥑 It was served with two sauces: one traditional and the other with a unique twist. Both had a subtle kick of spice, but it was perfectly balanced, never overpowering the freshness of the avocado. Paired with crispy tortilla chips, it was absolutely addictive! 😋 But the showstopper was definitely this dish—the Potato Taquitos (first photo)! 🌮 It was nothing like the hearty, bold tacos I was used to. The outside was fried to a golden, satisfying crisp, while the mashed potato inside was incredibly smooth and comforting. The spices were used masterfully, creating complex layers of flavor without being too intense. It even felt like a Mexican dish that someone with a sensitive stomach could enjoy!
