Beware on booking through open table. It does not list the cancellation policy that they follow. On open table, it says that you will be charged $10 for a no-show, which is completely understandable. I made the reservation 10/26 for later that evening for four people. I ended up cancelling a couple hours later due to a miscommunication hours PRIOR to the reservation time. They had my reservation for maybe 2 hours. Anyways, I check my credit card statement a few days later and noticed that I was charged $40 from this establishment, being $10/person. I called the establishment and they explained that their cancellation policy is $10/person if cancelling within 48 hours of the reservation. This was never explained on Open Table, which I will include screenshots of. This was not stated when booking the reservation, and not when I got the confirmation. Also, how could I cancel the reservation two days prior when I made the reservation same day? And cancelled hours prior to the reservation time? I explained the situation to Allen (I may have gotten his name wrong) and he stated that the rules are that I am charged if I cancel prior to two days, which again, I am fine if that is their cancellation policy. What I am not okay with is that this IS NOT STATED on Open Table, so I had no idea. I would have never made a reservation if that was the case. Whoever I spoke to mentioned that they won't do anything about it which is BS. Complete money grabbing at its finest. I was truly happy to try this place and for it to hopefully be a new favorite, but never will I ever go here or recommend it. Complete lack of customer service and accountability.
Edit, response to the owner: so will you be refunding my $40, given you acknowledge that Open Table did not state the accurate cancellation policy? I also emailed you a copy of the confirmation I received from Open Table, which list a $10 fee for a no-show if the reservation isn't canceled. I would attach it here, but it is a PDF and does not allow me to. I never received a response to my email, so no, I can not reach out directly as my concerns go unanswered. Again, Open Table states two cancellation policies, one being to cancel up to 30 minutes, and another being a $10 charge for a no-show if the reservation is not canceled. Not the cancelation policy that you are actually implementing. From your response, it is clear that there is still a lack of accountability given there was no mention of being refunded for your mistake. Nice to see you are improving your communication at my expense. Great way to...
Read moreI just stopped in to use the bathroom after being stuck in traffic and they said ma’am you need to buy something I said sure no problem. Then when I came out of the bathroom, I said just charge me for whatever’s cheapest. The guy was extremely rude and unprofessional. Didn’t even bother me that he was wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap while serving tables but the fact that he Said it would be seven dollars for a sprite after saying five dollars for a Diet Coke and I said no thank you I said its another Coke product though so he shot back at me saying it’s Del Mar what do you expect?! Maybe you should’ve thought about that! That was so unnecessary to snap at me making rude condescending comments. I was perfectly fine with paying to use their bathroom not to mention I live in Delmar and he’s giving the whole town a bad name as a Snobby reputation acting like that towards customers. I am a customer because I was paying. I eat in Del Mar all the time and I’m definitely never giving this place my business. They can’t even hire professional employees with manners. This is supposed to be some fancy restaurant at a fancy side of town and the guy dresses like he’s going on a hike and talks to me like I’m total trash. What a joke of an establishment. Didn’t even treat me like a human being. Made me feel embarrassed...
Read moreThe food is Ok, though it’s not Mexican food but white people’s food. The taste is not too crazy, the desert is good. I have been there three times, and two of the experiences made me think the staffs and the front desk are racists. For all the walk-ins they prioritized those Catherines and Jons, leaving us bar tables even at lunch times when most of the tables are empty. Today, when I walked in with my friend, they told us to wait for about 30 minutes and they will call us. We came back early they told us to wait for 5 minutes for bar seats then 10 minutes later they said they are still waiting for the reservations even though three walk-ins are served during the 10 minutes(all of them are white). Eventually we left without telling them, and I was thinking if they don’t call me I’ll leave a comment. Now it’s 1 hour and a half since we arrived at the place no one calls. By the way, there’s a bar table available which we waited for 15 minutes in total...
