Anchorage, Alaska | 7-Day Summer Travel Guide 🌲🏔️
I spent 7 days and 7 nights exploring Alaska in early August and was completely amazed by its breathtaking natural landscapes and abundant wildlife! 🐻🌊 Itinerary: D1: 🏠✈️ Arrive in Anchorage → Rent a car and drive 🚗 4 hours to Healy D2: Denali National Park 1-day tour 🏞️ (4⭐) → Drive to Talkeetna for stay D3: Drive 🚗 4 hours to Seward, stopping at several scenic viewpoints and the Wildlife Conservation Center 🦌 (4⭐), stay in Seward D4: Harding Icefield Trail hiking 🧊🥾 (5⭐) D5: 8.5-hour Northwestern Fjord Cruise 🚢 (5⭐) D6: Bear Glacier Kayak Tour 🛶 (5⭐) → Drive 🚗 2 hours back to Anchorage for stay D7: Katmai Bear Watch Tour 🐻 (6⭐!!) D8: Matanuska Glacier Hiking 🧊🥾 (3⭐) → ✈️ Head home Tour Recommendations: The bear-watching tour was the absolute highlight 🐻💫—if you’re visiting during the season, don’t miss it! Book the Katmai tour. All three tours in Seward were fantastic 🌟 Denali National Park is one of those “you’ll regret not going, but it might feel just okay once you’re there” places. Matanuska Glacier hiking was just average—the ice is pretty dark 😕. You have to join a tour here; it’s a 2-hour drive from Anchorage to the meeting point. 📍Anchorage & Surroundings: Anchorage has great restaurants and shopping 🛍️🍴. Here are some delicious spots: 🦞 Inferno Seafood Boil: Cajun-style seafood boil—fairly priced and super popular. Be sure to reserve in advance! 🐟 49th State Brewing: A local chain serving Alaskan dishes (try the fried halibut!). There’s one at the airport too. 🌮 Tequila 61: Mexican restaurant with amazing seafood tacos and sizzling plates. 🦀 Glacier Brewhouse: Great atmosphere. They serve king crab, but it’s a bit pricey. 🛒 We even checked Costco—no king crab, but snow crab legs were about $20/lb. 🍦 Wild Scoops: Must-try flavor—Birch Almond! 🛍️ Check out the indigenous-owned Musk Ox Producers for unbelievably soft qiviut (musk ox wool) hats and scarves. There are also two fur shops: David Green and Alaska Fur Exchange. REI in midtown is huge and great for gear. For souvenirs, look for antler and wood crafts, blueberry and birch syrups. The drive from Anchorage to Seward offers stunning views along the highway 🛣️. Don’t miss Bird Point and the Wildlife Conservation Center! #AlaskaTravel #Anchorage #TravelGuide #WildlifeAdventure #GlacierHiking #BearWatching #AlaskaFood #ExploreAlaska 🏔️🦅🐾
