Ann Arbor | College Town and Beyond ๐๐
Our journey has brought us back to the Midwest โ and likely, this will be our final stop. Huge congrats to my partner for completing the โNational Academic Tourโ of job interviews with nearly perfect results ๐๐ โ Prof. T is on the horizon! While she was interviewing, I took the chance to explore Ann Arbor (on the company dime, as usual ๐ผโจ). Ann Arbor is a classic college town โ everything revolves around the university, and life flows seamlessly across campus. Without even realizing it, I found myself walking through quads surrounded by students rushing to class. At first glance, it reminded me a lot of Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota โ similar vibe, low-rise buildings, a mix of cafes, pubs, international eateries, and cute shops everywhere โ๐ป. But look closer, and youโll see this is like Dinkytown 2.0: cleaner, safer, and with better public transport ๐ถโ๏ธ๐. Itโs also wonderfully diverse โ youโll hear Mandarin every few steps. College town = Chinatown? Almost! I was naturally drawn to a castle-like building ๐ฐ โ no surprise, it was the University of Michigan Law School. Founded in 1859, the current building was completed in 1863. With its Hogwarts-like grandeur and a top-10 national ranking, it definitely lives up to the hype โ๏ธ๐. Didnโt have time to make it to Detroit this time โ next trip for sure! #AnnArbor #UMich #LawSchool #WeekendGetaway #LifeInTheUS #CollegeTownVibes #MidwestLiving
