Ann Arbor periphery-Detroit I think the best pasta in town
Exclusive: My Go-To Hidden Gem Pasta Spot – Detroit’s Best Pasta in My Book! This is hands down the most delicious pasta I’ve had in the Detroit area—total “pasta god” status in my heart! The restaurant has a great vibe, and they update their menu pretty often too. 🍴 Restaurant: SheWolf Pastificio & Bar Friends, if you know any other amazing pasta spots, please drop them in the comments—I need to try them! First off, all their pastas are homemade—you can even see the pasta kitchen through a glass wall, which is so cool to watch 🧑🍳! The pasta section on the menu is huge, with several classic options that skip the fancy frills and focus on pure flavor. We ordered two pastas, and the portions were perfect—just enough to leave us satisfied, not stuffed, with that “I want more” aftertaste. The seasoning was so good, I almost teared up with the first bite! Pasta 1: Truffle Cream Cheese & Egg Yolk Pasta This one was a smaller portion—gone in basically three bites! But here’s the magic: it was not greasy at all. The truffle, cream cheese, and egg yolk blended into this rich yet light sauce—such a unique, addictive flavor. I could’ve eaten a whole plate of this 😋. Pasta 2: Seafood Pasta (Squid & Crab) Loaded with squid and crab, this one had that same creamy texture—but the acidity in the sauce balanced out the richness perfectly, so it never felt heavy. Super shareable (though I kinda wanted it all to myself) 🦑🦀. Slow-Cooked Veal We also got the slow-cooked veal, which came with bone marrow. It’s coated in a classic sauce made with red wine and pan jus—so tender, it “melts” at the touch of a fork. The flavor was spot-on, though it was a tiny bit salty. Still, every bite was juicy and flavorful 🥩. Appetizer: Citrus Crudi We tried this weird (but intriguing!) appetizer: Citrus Crudi, with blood orange, other citrus slices, and fennel, topped with cured tuna heart. I only ordered it because I was dying to know what “cured tuna heart” tastes like! Luckily, it was shaved into tiny bits—just enough to add a salty, umami kick to the fruit. No weird fishy aftertaste, which was a huge relief. It’s a fun, fresh starter if you’re feeling adventurous 🍊. Skip the drinks, though— the cocktails we ordered were pretty underwhelming. Also, for two big eaters, we left totally stuffed, and the bill was around $90 per person. Pro tip: stick to just pasta, and the value gets way better! #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #AnnArborLife #MichiganFood #StudentEats #MichiganEats #MichiganWeekend #ItalianFood #PastaLovers #HiddenGemRestaurant #AnnArborSurroundings #AnnArborFood #MichiganLife #SoDelicious
