Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Mikami Shrine Travel Guide (1)๐
My main goals for visiting Arashiyama: 1) to visit Mikami Shrine, and 2) to photograph the bamboo forest. But this guide combines what I learned from Japanese travel tips and my actual experiences. ๐๐ธ Time Recommendation: A full day. It's best to leave in the morning because Arashiyama is quite large and can't be fully explored in just an afternoon. Plus, the shrines and shops close at 16:00. I arrived at Arashiyama Station at 14:30 via the Arashiyama Electric Railway, but the trains aren't frequent, and I got there close to 15:00. ๐๐ธ Then, just exchanging snacks vouchers outside the station took me half an hour. It's an 18-minute walk to Mikami Shrine, which closes at 16:00, so I had to rush. ๐๐ธSightseeing Recommendations: First, the ones I visited: โฉ๏ธ Mikami Shrine: The shrine for hair! Please bless me with thick hair! Their charms are quite pretty and make great souvenirs. The shrine is small, just as big as seen in the picture. It closes at 16:00. Arashiyama Bamboo Forest: The bamboo forest is famous, but without a good plan, you might end up in the wrong place. There's a "Bamboo Forest Park" on the map, but it's not the tall and dense one we're looking for. I recommend going on a sunny day. ๐๐ธ The day I went was cloudy and rainy, and with the dense bamboo blocking most of the light, it didn't make for great photos. #Kyoto ๐๐
