Arlington National Cemetery & General Chennault’s Grave 🇺🇸✨
On my second trip to D.C., I visited Arlington National Cemetery—a solemn tribute to American patriotism—and paid respects at the grave of General Claire Chennault, commander of the legendary "Flying Tigers". 📍 Sacred Grounds Established in 1864, this hallowed site holds 400,000+ graves—from Civil War soldiers to presidents (like JFK) and civilians who served the nation. Only Chinese inscription: Chennault and his wife, Anna Chan Chennault, rest on a hillside near the Kennedy family plot (left of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier). 🎖️ Must-See Rituals Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: Watch the changing of the guard (every 30 mins in summer, hourly in winter). Eternal Flame: JFK’s gravesite, glowing since 1963. 🌿 A Place of Peace White marble tombstones stretch across rolling green hills. Locals picnic here, treating death as part of life’s cycle. Witnessed a general and youth laying wreaths—simple, moving tributes. "Death is not the end; forgetting is." May we remember. 🙏 ℹ️ Visitor Info 🎫 Free entry (no reservation needed). Shuttle tickets sold separately. ⏰ Hours: 8AM–5PM (winter) / 8AM–7PM (summer). #ArlingtonCemetery #FlyingTigers #DCTravel #HistoryLovers #HonorAndRemember
