🌟 Today, I’m focusing on recommending 2 alpaca farms. There’s a significant price difference between the two, and I’ve listed their pros and cons separately. You can book the one that suits you based on your needs—both require advance reservations! 1āƒ£ļø Clearview Alpaca 🌈 This farm is quite far, about an hour’s drive from Canberra, but the price is very cheap: AUD 15 per car, with no limits on the number of people or duration. You don’t need to bring food for the alpacas when you go—Bob provides free hay. The farm is also quite large, with a lake, grasslands, and more… 🌈 The downside is that the farm has fewer alpacas—only around 13 or 14—and they’re all white. Additionally, they don’t seem very friendly to visitors. After feeding them hay, I tried to pet them, but they wouldn’t let me 🄲. They kicked at me when I got close (though they didn’t spit at me). 🌈 The farm owner is Bob, a former air force member who bought this land after retiring and runs it with his wife. At one point, the farm had around 100 alpacas, but after his wife passed away, Bob was left to care for the alpacas alone. Even though his wife has been gone for over a decade, the farm’s brochure still says ā€œContact Judy & Bob,ā€ and he still tells every visitor stories about his alpacas and his wife. After his wife’s death, he stopped breeding alpacas on a large scale and now raises the remaining 10 or so as family. It’s really a touching story. 🌈 This farm is clearly less commercially driven. After all, the price is very reasonable, and you can tell Bob genuinely wants people to learn more about alpacas, not just make money from them. šŸ’—šŸ’—šŸ’—šŸ’— 2āƒ£ļø Alcapa Magic | 2771 Sutton Rd 🌈 This alpaca farm is just a 20-minute drive from Canberra (3 hours from Sydney). 🌈 Its advantages are: proximity; a rich variety of alpaca breeds and colors; a large number of alpacas; and many workshops to join. The alpacas here are also friendlier (though a few have a habit of spitting). The farm has 200 alpacas (alpacas & llamas), but around 40 adult alpacas and over 10 baby alpacas are available for interaction (compared to only about a dozen at the other farm). Besides feeding alpacas, you can sign up for other activities like alpaca shearing, walking alpacas, making crafts with alpaca wool, dyeing, weaving, etc. 🌈 The downside is that it’s much more expensive than the other farm—AUD 50 per person—and you can only stay for an hour. 🌈 It’s recommended to bring carrots (chopped into small pieces) when you go. The alpacas here even line up! They’ll walk over to you from a distance on their own, no need for the farmer to lead them. šŸ“· Sony A7III, my boyfriend’s Leica SL šŸŽØ Lightroom CC #Canberra #CanberraLife #CanberraExploration #AroundCanberra #CanberraDayTrips #CanberraFoodAndFun #DiscoverCanberra
