ATL's "Beijing Duck" Review | A Mixed Feelings Post 🦆🎭

Calling this an “honest recommendation” feels a bit tricky—because unlike my usual hidden gems, this place isn’t exactly delicious. But let's be real: Atlanta isn't overflowing with authentic Chinese options, so sometimes you just have to choose the best among what’s available. If you're curious about local Peking duck, keep reading! 🦆 Peking Duck (Sliced) – Honestly, this is the only reason to visit. Don’t expect true Beijing-style perfection though—it’s somewhere between Cantonese roast duck and classic Peking duck. 🍖 The presentation is familiar: the whole duck is brought out and carved tableside (let’s just say the slicing is... functional), served with scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce, and thin pancakes. You can choose to have the bones made into soup or salt-and-pepper style—go for the salt-and-pepper, which is fried crispy and heavily seasoned. It’s the closest thing to real duck cravings we’ve found here, especially compared to other local spots like Grand China or Royal Chef… so we still come back occasionally just for this! 🍲 Dry Pot Spare Ribs & Shrimp – Apart from the duck, this is the only other decent dish. It’s packed with ingredients and has a satisfying stir-fried flavor. Their dry pot series is pretty reliable, and classics like black pepper beef short ribs are also okay. 🍗 Sichuan Pepper Chicken – Skip it, seriously. 🚫 We imagined crispy, bone-in chicken tingling with fragrant Sichuan pepper—but got bland, dry chicken breast with barely any pepper flavor. It’s clear the kitchen relies on one formula: jalapeño + onion + dried chili + bean paste stir-fry… which makes everything taste the same. So, is this a recommendation? Kinda. 😅 I wouldn’t call the food good, but if you’re missing Peking duck, this might temporarily satisfy that craving. Lastly, a little throwback to a duck meal in Beijing last winter… sigh, no comparison! 😔 Bonus: We’ve started making our own duck at home now (desperate times, right? 😂). First attempt was fun—looked okay, tasted… not quite there yet. Will share if we perfect the recipe! 📍 Chef's House - Peking Duck 3580 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Duluth, GA 30096 #Atlanta #ATLFood #PekingDuck #ChineseFood #DuluthEats #FoodReview #MixedFeelings #AtlantaEats #HomemadeDuck #FoodieLife
