Atlanta|Korean-Style Malatang @ Sorimmara
Recently, Chinese malatang has become super popular in Korea 🇰🇷, and now that trend has reached Atlanta! 🌍✨ We tried this Korean-style malatang spot over the weekend and had a solid experience—good value and decent flavor, though if I had to choose, I’d still personally lean toward traditional hotpot. 😉 The restaurant follows the classic “pick-and-weigh” system where you fill a bowl with ingredients from a refrigerated display. 🥬⚖️ The selection is okay, but compared to more extensive setups like Malubianbian, it feels a bit limited. They do offer a nice variety of specialty rice cakes and noodle types, though! 🍡🍜 Once you’ve chosen your items, the kitchen prepares your bowl and serves it still simmering over a small portable stove—a nice touch to keep everything hot. 🔥🧺 We ordered: Malatang (mild spice): Tasty and comforting, though not particularly memorable. Pink Sauce Malaxiangguo: This one stood out—flavorful and aromatic! It was slightly on the salty side, but so packed with flavor that no extra dipping sauce was needed. 🌶️💖 Korean-style Sweet & Sour Chicken A bit underwhelming—the preparation felt a bit rough and the flavor was just average. We didn’t try the much-raved-about Creamy Shrimp, but it comes highly recommended online—might be worth a taste! 🦐🤔 The restaurant itself is quite small, so if there’s a wait, you can leave your name and explore nearby. Right next door is Ebisu Japanese Market, perfect for a quick browse while you wait. 🛍️👣 📍 Sorimmara 3350 Steve Reynolds Blvd suite 405, Duluth, GA 30096 #AtlantaEats #KoreanMalatang #Malatang #AtlantaFoodie #DuluthEats #SpicyFood #AsianFusion #FoodTrends
