Atlanta|Must-Try Salted Fish & Chicken Eggplant! 🍆✨
Hiii — last week I planned to try a Filipino spot, but it was too packed. Ended up revisiting a Malaysian restaurant I used to frequent in college. This place, along with Sushi Yoko, was basically my university cafeteria — I’d go multiple times a week! 🏫😅 But after some not-so-friendly service years ago (let’s just say the staff wasn’t exactly warm…), I hadn’t been back until now. Most of you probably know Mamak for their Hainanese chicken rice, but today I’m highlighting other gems: 🍆 Salted Fish & Chicken with Eggplant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When it arrived, there was a strong, funky aroma — I thought it was fish sauce, but it was actually salted fish. And wow, the first bite was incredibly fragrant and savory! Tender eggplant and chicken make this a perfect rice companion. 🍛 Curry Beef Brisket Hot Pot ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The beef is fall-apart tender, and the curry has a natural sweetness. The potatoes are soft and comforting. (Though my personal favorite braised beef combo is still at another spot — more on that later!) 🍜 Soy Sauce Fried Noodles ⭐⭐⭐ Tasty and well-seasoned, though a tad salty for my taste. My friend loved it! I still prefer dry-fried hor fun (just ask for less oil and salt). 🍞 Mamak Toast ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A must-order every visit — crispy, buttery, and perfectly sweet. They used to have an amazing fish head noodle soup, but it seems to be off the menu now. 😔 📍 Mamak 5150 Buford Hwy NE A-170, Doraville, GA 30340 Whether you’re craving Malaysian classics or just want something deeply flavorful and satisfying, Mamak still delivers on taste. #AtlantaEats #MalaysianFood #SaltedFish #ComfortFood #DoravilleEats #CurryLover #AsianFlavors #ATLFoodScene #MustTry #NostalgicEats
