Atlanta → Destin: 2-Day Getaway Guide 🌊🚗
For the second year in a row, we made a last-minute decision for Memorial Day and drove from Atlanta to Destin, FL — a 5.5-hour road trip that’s totally worth it! We left Saturday, played all Sunday, and returned Monday afternoon. Here’s the lowdown: 🏖️ Beach Vibes Head to the public beach — soft sand, clear water, and when the sun hits just right, it’s almost like Cancun’s turquoise sea! 🅿️ Free parking at Shoppes at Paradise Isle ☀️ No need to overplan: swim, relax under an umbrella, and sip a cool drink 🪂 Water Fun We booked with Miramar Beach Parasailing two years in a row — highly recommend! Parasailing: So peaceful! You’ll soar above the coast and even dip your feet in the water Banana Boat: Hilarious and wild Sit in the back for maximum thrill — I fell off and tasted the ocean for a solid 30 seconds 🍌💦 Life jackets keep you safe, but what a story! Foodie Highlights Crab Trap Destin: Fresh snow crab & seafood — can’t go wrong Pompano Joe’s: Perfect post-adventure spot. Crab claws are addictive 🦀🌅 Boshamps: Oysters & seafood — $20/dozen, so worth it McGuire’s Irish Pub: Try the “Irish Wake” cocktail for a fun twist 🚫 Skip Cafe Destin Brunch — unless you’re into food poisoning vibes 🏞️ Henderson Beach State Park Less crowded, more natural — great for catching crabs & conchs! Note: Parking fee | More seaweed | Waves are stronger 🌊 🔜 Crab Island — still on my list for next time! ⚠️ Tips to Know SUNSCREEN. Always. Check beach flags 🚩 — purple = jellyfish/rays nearby A friend got stung by a jellyfish — not fun! Destin stole my heart all over again 💙 Have you been?
