My wife and I have been loyal patrons of the Crab Shack for the past 12 years. This year, we brought a large group with us and requested to be seated in the same vicinity. However, despite this reasonable request, we were seated on opposite sides of the restaurant. My wife politely asked if a table of four could be moved so that we could join our group at a table of six. This request was met with apparent confusion by both the hostess and the waitstaff, who were unable or unwilling to accommodate us.
When it became clear that no resolution was forthcoming, my wife calmly requested to speak with the manager, Greg. During their conversation, which remained civil and polite, my wife expressed her confusion as to why this seemingly simple request could not be accommodated, particularly since there were numerous seating options available, and it was neither peak season nor peak dining hours.
At this point, my brother-in-law overheard another individual remark, "These people think they can do whatever they want." Shortly thereafter, an employee identified as Cam interjected himself into the conversation. Rather than assist in resolving the issue, Cam immediately accused my wife of merely wanting to argue, despite the fact that she had been neither rude nor loud while speaking with the other manager. When I raised my hands in a non-confrontational gesture of confusion, Cam responded by raising his index finger towards my face, instructing me to "be quiet" or "shut my mouth," despite the fact that I had not yet spoken.
This interaction was by far the worst service we have received in all the years we have frequented the Crab Shack. Cam’s condescending tone and unprofessional behavior only served to escalate the situation, which the initial manager appeared capable of resolving on his own. When I inquired about Cam's role in the restaurant, he responded dismissively, questioning whether I had ever encountered a situation where two managers were on duty simultaneously. He further claimed to have informed the entire staff of the situation and notified his superiors of our “bazaar behavior”.
This experience was deeply disappointing, and the thought that other loyal customers might endure similar treatment is troubling. While Cam's conduct did not ruin our vacation, it has certainly deterred us from returning to the Crab Shack...

Tourist trap now. Worst crab legs anywhere. Big Green Egg was retired for the smoked tuna dip. They even cut out hush puppies to save money. That’s digging deep. A half corncob on crab legs for two. Less potatoes. Worst meal I’ve had in ages and we literally have been eating here for 7 years. Even decided to tourist trap the gift shop. Two wine cups and a tumbler with their logo. $150.
Never again.

4 minutes ago We have been coming for years and although we usually grab crab legs too, and love them, we just got the smoked tuna dip this time because we weren't as hungry but its the best in Destin so we can't not get it. Chunks of fresh caught tuna smoked while you watch on the Big Green Egg, unlike many that add liquid smoke. Then flaked and mixed with the rest of the magic and served with crackers and fresh lemon slices. Divine. Love the crab as well but you can grab this at the beachside bar with cocktails and honestly what gets better than that?
It should be noted that there was lots more smoked tuna dip under the crackers. More than enough!
We get extra crackers.
If I could add one tip, I would say management needs to request no cell phones during work hours for staff. We were trying to buy some items from the gift area and there was no help so we walked out to the hostess stand and she was on her cell phone scrolling and reading, while we were standing right there and she didn't see us so we put the items on the counter in front of her at the hostess stand and she jumped up and grabbed menus and said "Table for two?!" Clearly startled. Might want to nip the scrolling but it didn't deter us. Just a...
Read moreNeedless to say, this place is basically just a tourist trap with over priced seafood dinner. As we walked in it was packed but they had a QR Code that you could scan so you could get a drink and wander the beach until they texted you that your table is ready. The bar had very good drinks and we’re accommodating for our 10 yr old with wax sticks to keep him content for the duration of the wait time. The thing I was most concerned about was the pricing on each meal and why a basket of chicken tenders should cost $25.99 when you can go to any other restaurant and get them for at most $15. My husband, Me and my Daughter ordered off the appetizer menu because we weren’t very hungry and my son ordered a kids beach burger. My husband got his meal first “a dozen oysters) and it was very pleasing to the eye but as he grab a fork and began to flavor them he noticed how “snotty” and “slimy” the juices were and guessed it was because they were frozen before serving. We later found out they shuck them daily and keep them on ice all day. My Husband was already worried about food poisoning because seafood is very particular when it is sitting out for long periods of time. My Daughter and I ordered snow crab claws expecting large arms but we just got not even one inch claws with barely any meat on them sitting in a pool of butter they didn’t have that much flavor either even with the lemon juice. My son was the only one who relatively enjoyed his meal. I left feeling very full and not in a good way and our total came to $150 just with three appetizers and one kid’s cheeseburger. The service was very nice but this restaurant needs to lower there prices and make...
