Auckland Volcano Craters 👉 Don’t Just Go to Mt Eden Anymore ‼️
Te Ara Pueru is one of the largest and best-preserved volcanic cones in Auckland. This volcano erupted approximately 18,000 years ago, with its peak standing at an altitude of 106 meters. Back in the day, it served as a strategic stronghold for the Māori people, and it is now owned by the British Royal Family 👑🌋 🍁 Mangere Mountain ♀️ Mangere Mountain is situated right in the heart of Mangere Bridge. - The main entrance is on Domain Road, and there’s a large visitor car park next to the Mangere War Memorial 🅿️. Not far above the car park, you’ll find a small skate park and a basketball court 🏀🛼. - Another starting point—also the starting point marked on the AKL Paths map—is near the Mangere Mountain Education Trust, close to Coronation Road and along public transport routes 🚌📍. ⭐ Along the walking trail, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Manukau Harbour, the nearby Maungakiekie Mountain, and Puketutu Island 🌊🏞️. These vistas perfectly explain why the Maunga Mountains held such crucial strategic significance for defensive fortifications. From the volcano’s height, you can also catch a stunning glimpse of Auckland’s cityscape, including the busy Mangere Bridge 🌆🚗. 🌈 Personally, I think this spot is more interesting, diverse, and beautiful than the Mt Eden crater! It just isn’t as famous because it’s not in the very center of the city 🥰. #OffTheBeatenPath #NewZealand #WeekendGetaway #Auckland #FamilyFriendly #Volcano #HikingViews #WeekendVibes #DailyWithKids #NaturalScenerySpots 📸✨
