"A Chill Volcano That Won’t Explode (Hopefully)"

Mangere Mountain is the kind of place that makes you say, “Wait, this used to be a volcano?!” A super easy loop walk, under an hour if you don’t stop for 200 photos. Kid-friendly, ankle-friendly, and lazy-friendly — this one’s for everyone.

The hike is green, photogenic, and mildly breezy, with a view at the top that rewards you like a free Wi-Fi zone after a data drought. There’s plenty of parking space — but be warned, the toilet near the car park looks like it was designed for horror movie scenes. Enter if you dare. 👻🚽

At the bottom, there’s a neat little playground and a skate park too — great if your kids have energy while you pretend to “supervise” on a bench with snacks. Also an awesome spot to just chill, read, or dramatically stare into the distance. Short hike, big views, mysterious toilet. 10/10 would return (with a flashlight).

Accomplished walking up Mangere Mountain today with my brother. Highly recommend wearing proper footwear as the mountain terrain is either grass, gravel or stairs. Can be windy on the way up but worth the hike as your heart rate goes up and you will get sweaty. Such a beautiful view to see at the top overlooking mangere bridge. Really like the new stairs they installed that has a ramp to hold onto if your scared of heights or just not good with your balance. There's toilets facilities on-site, drinking fountain, playground and basketball court to keep the family entertained but located below the mountain. A pointer to raise, if they wanted to put some signage on the plants and trees on the mountain so that we know what kind of plant or tree it is as I met a foreign couple asking what tree was on the side of the mountain and tbh your girl doesn't know.. will be back for more...

Mangere Mountain is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a quick and rewarding hike. The trail is easy to navigate, making it suitable for all levels, and the views from the top are absolutely iconic, offering a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area. The best part? It's completely free, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy nature without any cost.

Parking is a breeze—there’s plenty of space, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Whether you're looking for a scenic walk or a spot to take in some stunning views, Mangere Mountain is definitely...
