🍜 Baltimore Food | Yo Cafe

This is one of my regularly visited hidden gems! In my opinion, it’s the best Northeastern Chinese restaurant in the DMV area – beating others by a mile (no shade, just facts 😉). Huge portions, amazing flavors, and they even deliver $12 lunch boxes to JHU! The dine-in environment is pretty basic, though. 📍 Address: 1508 York Rd, Timonium, MD 21093 🅿️ Parking is easy, but it might be a bit far for some DMV residents. The restaurant only has 4-5 tables and a small bar. They use disposable cups and utensils – it’s definitely a casual spot. Fun fact: They started as a Henese-style eatery serving stews, buns, and dumplings – but now they’re fully a Northeastern Chinese kitchen! 🥢 🌟 Must-Try Dishes: 1️⃣ Yuxiang Shredded Pork– Savory, slightly spicy, and perfect with rice! 2️⃣ Sauerkraut Pork Rib Hot Pot– Rich, tangy, and packed with flavor (no pic, but trust me!). 3️⃣ Tomato Scrambled Eggs– A hidden gem! Sweet, homestyle, and tastes just like back in China. Ask if it’s available. 4️⃣ Guobaorou – Incredibly crispy with that classic tangy kick – looks small but super filling! 5️⃣ Big Plate Chicken – Northern-style, soy-saucy with fried potatoes and hand-pulled noodles 🍗🥔🍜. 6️⃣ Pickled Cabbage with Vermicelli– Sour, chewy, and RIDICULOUSLY good with rice – one order = one pound of rice, no joke! 7️⃣ Braised Pork with Eggs – Savory (not sweet), with fried eggs and loads of meat. 8️⃣ Braised Eggplant – Our order was too salty with tough skin 😢… hopefully it’s improved! 9️⃣ Di San Xian – Standard taste, a bit oily – skip this and try other dishes. 🧋 Drinks & More: Their bubble tea is surprisingly good! I love the Mango Pomelo Sago and Avocado Smoothie – not too sweet, made with quality ingredients 🥑❤️. Definitely among the best in Baltimore! They also serve: Huimian (stewed noodles) Youtiao (fried dough sticks) Baozi (steamed buns) Dumplings 🥟 Roujiamo (Chinese burgers) These are homestyle and comforting – perfect for breakfast, especially for students! 🎒 🍚 Final Thoughts: Yo Cafe is a must-try for authentic, hearty Northeastern Chinese food.
