A classic Bay Area road trip route: 17-Mile Drive & Carmel-by-the-Sea Just ~2 hours from the Bay Area—perfect for a relaxing day trip! 🛣️ 17-Mile Drive 📍 Entrance: Pacific Grove Gate 📍 Exit: Carmel Gate 🎫 Entry fee: $12.25 (card or cash only—no Apple Pay! ⚠️) We followed the recommended route from the brochure, driving and stopping along the way. The full loop took about 2 hours. 🌊 The views are stunning! The coastline is vast and open—no need to obsess over specific stops. Just pull over wherever catches your eye! 🏘️ Carmel-by-the-Sea A quaint commercial town ideal for a break and a meal. We tried A.W. Shucks Cocktail & Oyster Bar (decent Google reviews). Service was friendly, but the food was overly salty, and the oysters were disappointingly small 😅… (Maybe try elsewhere!) Strolled around the town—filled with galleries, antique shops, and souvenir stores.
