Beacon Hill's Red Brick Old-Money European Bistro Is Raking It In

It's been a full month since my last outing for something new. To use the AMEX Resy $50 credit, I went out just looking to have a drink, but ended up spending $250 total—and covering an extra $200 myself 😂 Overall Impressions (restaurant info at the end): They offer a full wine list, but the cocktails were just okay—more about the experience than standout quality. The strong cocktails noticeably had less liquor or smaller glasses; the lighter cocktails came in larger glasses with more juice, achieving perfect cost control. After two drinks, I quietly headed home to keep sipping 🍸 Dishes range from $8 to $28 each, but the portions are essentially “one bite.” For young adults with normal appetites, food alone can easily hit $120 per person. Housed in an old red-brick building, the décor blends old-school Irish pub with a touch of classic “old-money” layout. From 5:30 pm onward, customers streamed in steadily, and there was still a line when we left—being able to thrive like this in Boston means they're really raking it in. Maybe it’s like the “first-come, first-served” rule in the board game Monopoly 🏘️ Dish Impressions: Baby eel was my personal favorite, though my friend couldn't get past the mental hurdle. The warm, tender baby eel strips paired well with drinks and brought a fresh taste. The last time I had baby eel was at Pabu, the former Japanese spot in Millennium Place. Beef tartare and sea urchin were both a bit salty, fitting as bar snacks—they rank above average among typical bar food. Squid risotto seemed ordinary to me, but my friend loved its sweet, sticky texture. Beef cheek and shishito peppers were so salty even I noticed. Foie gras isn't recommended (just personal taste)—as my friend said, “It’s like biting into one of the geese from Boston Common 🦢.” Fried potatoes were freshly fried, not reheated—a safe, reliable choice. All in all, a meal that was neither great nor terrible 👍 📍 ZURiTO, 26 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114 #BostonLife #StudyInBoston #BostonWeekend #BostonFoodDiary #BostonFoodMap #BostonFoodCheckIn #StudentLifeInBoston #BostonWeekendTrip #BostonFood #MyBarDiary
