Beehive Glamping: A Hassle-Free Camping Experience in the DMV! 🏕️✨

📍Beehive Domes: 1824 Bumble Bee Rd, Accident, MD | Open from April to November ⛺ While it looks like it's in Maryland, it's actually about a 3-hour drive from DC. But let me tell you—it's totally worth the trip! 🚗💨 This glamping spot isn't remote at all. You'll find plenty of food options, activities, and Superchargers nearby. It's also close to Deep Creek Lake State Park! The temperature here is about 5°F cooler than in DC, which feels amazing—though it does get a bit chilly at night. You might even need to turn off the AC while sleeping! ❄️😴 ⛺ We’ve visited Getaway cabins (now called Postcard Cabins) twice before, but Beehive feels like a major upgrade! First, the domes are more spacious, and each one comes with its own sauna. There’s also Wi-Fi! 📶 Beehive is part of an RV park, so amenities are plentiful—think hammocks and a small playground. Overall, Getaway felt too isolated for my comfort. After dark, I never wanted to step outside there, but at Beehive, we sat under the stars every night after our little one fell asleep around 8 PM. ✨🌌 The sky was absolutely breathtaking! Plus, each dome has more outdoor space. One of my proudest moves? Bringing a 7-meter-long extension cord to power an indoor-outdoor hotpot feast at sunset. 🍲🌇 It was pure magic! And can we talk about how amazing bamboo puffs and chestnuts taste in tomato-based hotpot? Even our little one couldn’t get enough! 😋 ⛺ Just a 10-minute drive from Beehive, you’ll find plenty of food and fun. Nearby, Wisp Resort offers skiing in the winter and a mountain coaster during warmer months—a mini rollercoaster where you control the speed! 🎢 Our little one loved it! Beehive’s website also recommends other local activities, though some had height/weight restrictions that didn’t work for us. Still, having so many options nearby makes Beehive a clear winner over Getaway. ⛺ For food, we tried Firewater Kitchen & Bar. They have lovely outdoor seating right by the lake. The food is your standard American fare—nothing extraordinary, but a solid choice! 🍔🍟 ⛺ Of course, there were a few downsides. The blankets felt a bit unclean, and while the bathroom had a shower, sink, and even a hairdryer, the sink was way too small. Washing my face meant water everywhere! 💦 Privacy isn’t as strong here as at Getaway—the domes are closer together. But personally, seeing other people around made me feel safer. All in all, whether it's Getaway or Beehive, one night is my max. There’s no place like home! 🏡💖 Bonus: On the way, we spotted tons of wind turbines and made a quick detour to see them up close. I’d never been that near to windmills before—what a gift from the universe! 🌬️💨 Have you been glamping in the DMV? Which spot is your favorite?
