Best Time to Visit Daigo-ji for Cherry Blossoms 🌸
The photos were taken yesterday, and the cherry blossoms at Daigo-ji are in full bloom around this time. 🌟🌸 The story of cherry blossoms at Daigo-ji is always intertwined with the grandmaster of grand scenes, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In the spring of 1598, despite being ill, he hosted the "Daigo Flower Viewing" cherry blossom festival here, planting 700 cherry trees and leading a procession of 1,300 people through the temple grounds. 🌺 This luxurious party became his last hurrah in life—he passed away that autumn, leaving behind only the jest that "no matter how beautiful the cherry blossoms, they can't hold onto an ambitious man." 🌟🌸The five-story pagoda within the temple is Kyoto's oldest wooden structure (completed in 951). Legend has it that to ward off evil, the workers buried a "dragon god's eye" at the top of the pagoda during its construction. 🌺 Standing beneath the pagoda today, looking at the cherry blossoms intertwined with the ancient architecture, you can almost hear the sighs of history. 🌿 #Kyoto 🌺
