Bhutanese Food Gem! 4.8 on Google Maps Doesn’t Lie ✨
Lunched at a Bhutanese restaurant today and it was so good—dishes were all , like nothing I’ve tried before. Most have a little chili symbol though, so not for strict non-spicy eaters 🌶️ The owner recommended momo, which we didn’t get to try—definitely coming back! The restaurant plays Bhutanese music nonstop, and the decor is amazing, full of Bhutanese vibes. The dragon on the sign almost made me think it was a Chinese restaurant 😂 First up: an appetizer called Jumma, only $15 but huge portions. Homemade spicy stir-fried pork sausages with spices—I tasted Sichuan peppercorn’s numbing kick, so delicious 😋 Second: Shakam Datshi. Homemade dried beef gets more flavorful the more you chew (a tiny bit stringy though). Slightly spicy, with cheese in the soup. My friend doesn’t eat spicy, so they swapped fresh chili for bell peppers, but there’s still a little heat 🌶️ Third: chicken chow mein, super fragrant—no Western sweet taste, just savory goodness. Three dishes + 10% weekend surcharge = only $65! 📍The Druk Family Restaurant, Mawson Need a car—public transport isn’t great. So excited to start exploring southside food! 🥳 #CanberraFood #CanberraLife #BhutaneseCuisine #FoodieFind
