Bordeaux | Melodie 🎶
Our 12th Bordeaux adventure is here, with a thousand tastes for a thousand people, and we don't welcome any negativity! 🚫 We ordered two sets to share. Onion Soup Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Unlike the traditional French onion soup known for its thickness and strong saltiness, this soup has a hint of Japanese clear broth. It's light and slightly sweet. If you've had the traditional version, this will be a stark contrast. On its own, it's tasty but not particularly memorable. Mimosa Egg Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Essentially two boiled eggs halved and topped with the restaurant's homemade mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce. It has the vibe of an egg salad, and I paired it with bread, which was great. We went through two plates of bread (kudos to the bread, not the sour kind I dislike, but the kind of baguette I praised at L'Embacardère). Veal Stew Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A stewed veal dish that's simply stunning. The beef is tender yet chewy, and the sauce likely has a touch of white wine, giving it a slight sweetness. Although the menu suggests it comes with mushrooms, we got carrots, but they were well-prepared, with their natural flavor toned down significantly. I never thought I'd be eating beef stew over rice in a French restaurant! Beef Cheek in Red Wine Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The beef cheek was incredibly tender. There aren't many beef dishes that melt in your mouth, and this is one of them. It comes with a generous portion of mashed potatoes. I was cautious with the sauce, but my sister loved it so much she ate until she was full, despite being stuffed. Creme Brulee Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The best thing about this crème brûlée is that it's not overly sweet. The slightly bitter caramelized sugar on top complements the just-right sweetness of the custard below. Even I, someone who rarely touches desserts and has a low tolerance for sweetness, finished the whole thing. Lemon Pie Rating: 🌟🌟 It's a matter of personal taste, but this was a bit of a minefield. The pie part was sharply tangy lemon, and the cream on top had a lot of sugar. The first bite was an unbearable lemon sourness followed by a nauseating sweetness. I personally wouldn't recommend it; one bite is more than enough. I recommend making a reservation in advance. There were already people waiting outside before the doors opened, and it fills up quickly. The waitstaff are all very nice young ladies. The space isn't spacious, but it's decorated quite retro. The biggest drawbacks were the lemon pie and the lack of internet signal in the restaurant. With a cost of 23 euros per person, we were so full we were practically waddling out (and we both have normal appetites; I'm even a bit chubby). I highly recommend this place for its cost-performance ratio. #Bordeaux #BordeauxRestaurants #BordeauxFood
