Boston Allston Korean Restaurant | Myeongdong 1🐂 Grilled Beef Intesti

🐄 Myung Dong 1st Ave: Boston’s Overpriced Beef Intestine BBQ—One and Done Tried their famous grilled beef intestines yesterday, and while it’s a novelty, it’s not worth a return. Overpriced, underwhelming, and outshone by Allston’s other Korean spots—here’s why. ❌ The Headliner: Gobchang Gui Combo ($26.99 per order, 2 minimum = $53.98) What you get: A mix of beef large intestine (fatty, with a thick layer of grease), small intestine (less fatty, gritty texture inside), and beef heart (surprisingly the most palatable—lean, mild). Served with heaps of onion, a handful of potato slices, and (rice cakes). Flavor: Bland. The intestines rely on charring to taste like something—crisping the edges helps, but the marinade (and accompanying sauces) are weak, adding no depth. The only bright spot? Potato slices, which turn crispy when fried—too bad there aren’t more. The disaster: Staff ignores the grill. By the end, it’s a grease fire waiting to happen—oil splatters everywhere, and food burns fast. Even after turning off the heat, the residual warmth incinerates what’s left. Easily $10 worth of food went to waste. Pro tip: Hover over the grill yourself if you go. 😐 The Sides (None Better) Japchae ($14.99): 🍜 The “best” of the three, but that’s faint praise. Ultra-sweet (bordering on cloying) with more beef than noodles—odd, but the meat is tender. The glass noodles are overcooked, mushy, and hard to pick up. Ohjinguh So-myun ($19.99): 🦑 A travesty of “spicy” squid. It’s pure sugar—no heat, no spice, just syrupy sweetness. The squid itself is chewy (fine), but the sauce ruins it. Randomly tossed with cabbage and a clump of ?Confusing and unnecessary. 💸 The Math Three people, no tip: $100. For that price, you could get better Korean BBQ (or two meals) elsewhere in Allston. Portions are tiny, flavors are forgettable, and the only “unique” offering—grilled intestines—isn’t good enough to justify the cost. If you must try beef intestine BBQ (and can’t find it elsewhere), go once. But don’t expect magic. Allston has far better Korean spots—save your cash for those. 📍 Myung Dong 1st Ave 90-92 Harvard Ave, Allston, MA 02134 #BostonKorean #OverpricedEats #AllstonFood
