I went to Myung Dong 1st Ave on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025. I ordered the Corn Cheese appetizer, 6pc Soy Sauce Fried Chicken, and three beverages from the Valentine’s Day special menu: one “Razz Fizz” and two “Cherri-Sh Me“s. Everything I ordered was extremely delicious: the Corn Cheese was rich, sweet, and creamy, the chicken was crisp and tender—it’s definitely up to the caliber I expect of Bostonian restaurants. Drinks were a little small in proportion, but they were still very good. I would probably only order one or at most two. I hope to be more adventurous and sample more of their expansive menu options. It was a bit of a slower day, and I came just as the restaurant had opened so it was not too busy. The staff were also very friendly towards me—especially my server Gennifer Kim— and my order arrived promptly. I ended up spending around $60 for all my food and drinks, which was about standard for the amount I got, but the food portions were larger than I expected and suitable for more than one individual. The restaurant itself was very clean and well-decorated with K-Pop music videos playing on the TVs which ultimately made it feel very modern and trendy. I will definitely be bringing more people with me for my next visit to Myung Dong 1st Ave, but I can guarantee there will be a next time for sure. My only recommendation would be to list the menu more easily online so customers can think about what to order before arriving. Thank you so much Gennifer and staff for a great experience; have a good day!!
P.S. I learned from the staff that the Instagram page listed for this restaurant on Google is inaccurate. The proper account is @md_allston90!!! And I got a story shoutout for sharing to my...
Read moreI used to come here all the time during my last years of college. I used to love it here. UNTIL today, I came to Boston to visit friends, and stopped by. I’m well over 21, but my ID expired a few days ago and I haven’t been anle to renew it. I understand they can’t accept it, however, when trying to discuss with the employee to check if they could accept my foreign ID or a picture of my passport, they would not even let me talk and were super condescending and arrogant. She could have just been normal about it instead of treating us like we were kids with fake IDs. I ended up going back home to get my physical passport. My friends stayed. Nearly 30 minutes after, when I returned, they still had not brought my friends drinks, but came to my table right away to see my ID. From there, we waited 15 minutes without even water at the table, trying to call waiters that would come and serve other tables and ignore us just to ask for the drinks again. Extremely petty. I just asked if there was any issues, to which I didn’t even get a response or at least concern from the employee. NEVER coming back and for sure telling everyone to not either. Just another business who got more notorious and now treats...
Read moreA friend of mine and I found Myung Dong by chance after seeing a show at the Brighton Music Hall across the street. We were immediately greeted by Jennifer, a beautiful young and funny girl who made us feel right at home. She took care of us for the entire night by customizing meals from the menu for us, asking us about ourselves and sharing things with us about Korean pop culture. The atmosphere at Myung Dong is modern but cozy, warm and hip - my dining partner described it as "a Korean speakeasy" - with dim lighting, a cool, young crowd, and K-Pop idols surrounding us on the multiple TV screens. The food was incredibly fresh (I asked Jennifer to pick for me from the menu) and delicious even though we sat down at almost 11pm. The staff was joyous and vibrant - it was honestly difficult to leave, but we had a long drive back to Rhode Island.
Please visit Myung Dong and ask for Jennifer. I have worked in customer service for 20 years, and have rarely met people in the service industry as great as her.
Thank you for a...
