Boston Surroundings | Awesome State Park and Bird Sanctuary

On a non-rainy Sunday, it’s time to dash out and play!! I’ve found a new fun spot today! Affordable entry, stunning scenery, and super fun – highly recommended! Here’s a one-day trip route to Newburyport and the surrounding areas, just a one-hour 🚗 drive from Boston. First Stop: Maudslay State Park I visited a few years ago (and might have recommended it), but this year the state park added over 40 sculptures, which is quite interesting! There are trails, lakes, streams, fun sculptures, rows of trees, gardens, and even maple leaves 🍁. The first wave of autumn maple leaves in Boston has appeared, and it’s just too beautiful! MA license plate parking fee is $5, and you can explore for a couple of hours 🌳 Second Stop: Newburyport Downtown Check out the seaside town’s red-brick commercial streets, Market Square, and the antique market at Oldies Marketplace. Take a stroll by the sea to see various sailboats and private vessels. You can also visit the art gallery: Blochaus Art Gallery, and the Tannery Marketplace is great for shopping 🏬 Third Stop: Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Gatehouse A bird sanctuary with vast wetlands on one side and sandy beaches and the sea on the other – I really love it here! Once inside the refuge, drive all the way in and don’t miss the parking lots and roadside parking spots! The walk from the parking lot to the beach via the boardwalk is stunning, and you can even kayak in the wetland area. There’s a super variety of bird species! Highly recommend bringing a professional camera and binoculars. Only $5 per car, can’t get more reasonable than that 🐦🤩 Fourth Stop: Rusty Can Rumored to be the best Texas BBQ restaurant in Massachusetts, there’s a line before 5 PM. It’s the best brisket I’ve ever had! The ribs and cornbread are also good! Average cost is $30-40, and you can eat to your heart’s content 🍖 #BostonRoadTrip #AroundBoston #BostonLife #BostonFood #BostonWeekend #BostonDayTrips #BostonActivities #BostonWeekendGetaways #WhereToGoInBoston #Newburyport
