Bouillabaisse in Marseille, a Michelin Two-Star in Paris, and Amazing

Pics 1–3: Chez Fonfon I booked ahead on TheFork to try Chez Fonfon, the much-hyped, highly-rated spot by Marseille’s small harbor. Their bouillabaisse comes as a classic combo: three types of fish, broth, bread, and two garlicky sauces (one light, one dark). Honestly? The broth tasted like a bowl of pure umami overload—just not my cup of tea. Paris has never let me down with walk-in meals, but Marseille’s iconic soup here was a miss. That said, the fish dipped in sauce and bread slathered with it? Decent enough to save the meal. 🐟 Pic 4: Le Taillevent No trip to Paris is complete without a Michelin experience! This restaurant is rumored to have inspired Ratatouille—curious, I rewatched the movie (even the credits!) but found no direct nods. Regardless, it checks every box: incredible flavors, impeccable service, stunning plating, and a charming location. Tucked away on a small street near the Arc de Triomphe, it’s worth booking a month in advance on their (official website). A total standout! ✨ Pic 5: Chengdu Kitchen – Drunken Fish Who knew my best Sichuan meal would be in Paris? This place is life-changing. The fish in Pic 5—made with sea bass—is perfectly deboned, tender, and packed with bold, numbing-spicy flavor. I’ve been craving it nonstop since returning; I’d go back in a heartbeat.😊 lensole Lavender Fields: On the way from Avignon to Marseille, we passed through Valensole. The lavender is in full purple bloom this season 🎉—endless fields that are stunning and perfect for photos 📷. The only downside? The sun was so intense it was hard to keep my eyes open 😭. ➡️ Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (Ceramic Village): A charming southern French town famous for its ceramics. The streets are lined with beautiful pottery pieces 🫙, from hand-painted vases to quirky decorative plates. Pro tip: It’s near the opera house, on a street with two “Chengdu Kitchen” spots—only the one with (Drunken Fish) in its name is the real deal.
