Boulder’s Chinese Tea Shop: Bitter Sweet Tea 🍵✨

While strolling along Pearl Street in downtown Boulder, I stumbled upon this charming spot — Bitter Sweet Tea. I actually first discovered them back in 2020 on Instagram! Founded in 2005 by two CU Boulder alumni couples, the shop was renamed Bitter Sweet Tea in 2007 to reflect their philosophy about tea — and life: “Through bitterness comes sweetness.” 🪷🌿 The decor and atmosphere carry a distinct Chinese influence. They offer a wide range of traditional Chinese teas, as well as herbal and blended options. During my visit, an older local staff member was minding the shop. There’s no seating for drinking tea onsite — the focus is mainly on retail sales of loose-leaf tea. That said, I’ve heard they occasionally host paid tea-tasting events! 🫖✨ A lovely little haven for tea lovers in the heart of Boulder. #TeaCulture #ChineseTea #BitterSweetTea #BoulderCO #TeaLover #PearlStreetBoulder #LifeIsLikeTea
