Brazos Bend State Park in Houston | Lotus & Alligator
Weekend Nature Escape: Hiking, Lotus Flowers & Alligators at Brazos Bend State Park🐸 🌷To friends living in Houston—if you love nature-themed parks, Brazos Bend State Park is well worth a visit. We checked it out last weekend, and it’s perfect for relieving stress in summer! 🎫 Tickets & Basic Info🍐🎼 🎟️ Admission: $7 per person (free for children) 🗺️ You’ll receive a map + safety notes upon entry (⚠️ No swimming; be cautious of alligators). 🚶♀️ Recommended Trail: Elm Lake Trail (1.7mi) We chose the Elm Lake Trail this time. It’s 1.7 miles long and takes about an hour to complete—ideal for casual hiking. Along the way, you’ll find:💕 - Expansive lotus ponds (truly stunning!) - Alligators that may suddenly slide out from among the lotus plants 🐊 - Plenty of birds and aquatic plants, great for photos 📸 The park is very untouched; most trails wind through grasslands and woodlands. You can smell fresh grass and hear the sounds of insects and birds—it’s incredibly soothing.✨✨ 🌿 Other Highlights🎉 - Bird Watching: The birds aren’t afraid of people, making it feel like you’re in a National Geographic documentary.☀️ - There are also fishing areas and horseback riding trails, perfect for repeat visits to explore more.🌪️ - Nature Center: Indoor exhibits feature baby alligators 🐊, snakes 🐍, and other reptiles, with a strong focus on education. The "20-minute park effect" is real 🌳. A walk through the woods and by the lake, watching lotus flowers and alligators, will leave you feeling totally relaxed.☔ ⚠️ Remember to wear mosquito-proof and sun-protective clothing, and bring water and a hat! #Houston #BrazosBend #HoustonWeekendGetaway #Hiking #Nature
