Burlington | Women-Owned & Operated Tapas Spot 🌸
Burlington | Women-Owned & Operated Tapas Spot 🌸 The day I found this gem was my first day off after 3 straight weeks at summer camp—I bolted out early, drove 2 hours to Burlington like I was “escaping,” and that feeling of freedom was indescribable~ 🚗💨 I started with brunch, browsed a vintage record store, fell for local Ben & Jerry’s (grabbed a cone on the way🍦), swung on a bench at Waterfront Park, and planned to head back to camp after dinner… but the restaurant I wanted was closed! 😮💨 My great day hit a snag—I sat outside the closed spot, stuck on where to go, watching other groups leave disappointed. Just as I was about to settle for any place, an older lady showed up—she’d also been turned away. We chatted, and she mentioned a James Beard-nominated spot nearby, asking if I wanted to join. Normally shy, but travel turns me into a social butterfly—I said yes in a heartbeat~ And that’s how I met Honey Road~ ✨ It’s on Church Street—during the day, road construction made it look unremarkable, but stepping inside? Wow. Cozy lighting, mellow music, and such a warm vibe~ The lady was adorable, chatting with the bartender and neighboring tables. She and her husband loved exploring, splitting up for the day to meet here for dinner—and just as she said that, he walked in smiling. Pure, heartwarming sweetness~ 👵👴 These unplanned, friendly moments on trips are always the most precious~ ❤️ This tapas spot is owned and run by two women, serving Eastern Mediterranean flavors. Chef Cara Tobin used to work at Boston’s popular Oleana—total talent! They also have a sister restaurant, The Grey Jay. Any Vermont locals been? Need deets~ 😉 🥪 Braised Lamb Fancy plating but down-to-earth delicious! Crispy-toasted bread slathered with spiced mayo, piled with fall-apart braised lamb, and a few tangy pickles—meatiness, creaminess, and zing all in one bite. So good I almost licked my fingers! 🐟 Salmon Shish Obsessed with this! The salmon is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the basil-cucumber mix at the bottom adds a bright, - kissed tang that makes the fish taste even sweeter. Must-order—no arguments! Crazy coincidence: one of the chefs sat next to me after her shift, and her all-veggie tapas looked incredible! Plant-based friends, this place is your paradise~ 🥗 #vermont#BistroDiary#SoloDining#AestheticRestaurants#MustEatWithFriends#LocalFoodGuide
